Hotel Tips
Select your room wisely for the optimum experience. The resort is set up in buildings running perpendicular to the main road, back toward the beach. Front rooms near reception and the road can get some noise from motorbikes and pickup trucks-early morning or late at night-inconsiderately loud. Try to coax them into giving you a room at the back of the property or around the pool area; these units are much quieter and more private with a garden feel.
Koh Lanta is big. About thirty kilometers from top to bottom. The best way to get around is by renting a scooter, and Matcha Lanta either has them available on-site or will point you toward their trustworthy neighbor. With your own wheels, it’s easy to head over to the Old Town on the east coast or down south to the tip of the island where there’s a lighthouse within another national park area. Watch out for potholes! And don’t forget mosquito repellent: Yes Tropical gardens = Greenery = Mosquitoes (There are screens over all Room windows but You’ll need protection if sitting out late evening).
